The Plantation Shop Tenant up-fit project was designed for the Plantation Holdings Group’s retail store in Greenville, South Carolina. The Plantation Holdings Group turned to Context Design Group to renovate an existing retail center into a single retail store with traditional aesthetics. The renovation also served to develop a solution for the poor conditions of the existing building. This would be achieved through the programming of spaces and finish materials.

The existing retail spaces were partitioned into four units that each served its own purpose. However, Context Design Group developed a plan that would utilize the units to serve a single

purpose by opening the access between the spaces. Open access between the spaces was realized by incorporating ADA compliant ramps, stairs, interior case windows, and open doorways. The Plantation Shop’s spaces main purpose was to serve as a showroom for the client’s products along with supporting functions such as dressing rooms, a storage/delivery room, restroom facilities, and an office.

To enhance the building’s exterior facade, Context Design Group replaced the existing wood paneling with a stucco finish and exterior trim moldings. A traditional aesthetic was also accomplished by removing the existing storefront windows and doors which would be replaced by installing wood framed doors with transoms and fixed wood framed windows.
